Definition 5h564p
A shortcut method for calculating equity. If we are trying to determine our equity planning on only seeing one more card, we can simply multiply our expected number of outs by 2 and get an approximation that is within 1-2% in most cases. If we are trying to determine our equity planning on seeing both the turn and river, then we can multiply our outs by 4 and get a good estimation as well.
Example 1w1m2t
With 9 outs, Hero guessed that he had 36% equity based on the Rule of 4. In actuality, he had 37.23% equity.
