Definition 5h564p
A rule in many live poker games that a verbal declaration of one’s action (e.g., stating "raise" or "call") is binding. Despite this rule, there are reasons why players verbalize their bets, including to ensure that the bet is understood, to watch another player’s reaction, and to avoid violating the string bet rule (once a verbal declaration is made, the player can take whatever time he or she needs to assemble and move chips forward into the pot).
Example 1w1m2t
"Once he said 'raise', he couldn't decide to just call. His verbal action was binding.
